Is Doja Cat Really Quitting Music for Good?

This morning, Doja Cat tweeted, “This sh*t ain’t for me so I’m out. Y’all take care”, then changed her Twitter Display name to “i quit”. This happened following a canceled performance in Paraguay that caused fans to call Doja out on Twitter and other social media platforms.

The drama all started with a thread claiming Doja was not being appreciative to her fans after the Asunciónico music festival. She was scheduled to perform, but the performance was canceled due to a storm. Fans showed up at her hotel room, and Doja did not greet them—hence the reason many of her fans (and some who just want to insert their two cents) took to Twitter to air out the issue. Some are calling Doja rude and even going as far to claim that the “Say So” singer has lost her humility. All of these claims caused Doja Cat to post some tweets of her own in response.

It's unclear whether Doja is actually going to quit making music. Needless to say, Doja is not the first to have to confront her own fans online. But hopefully this does not actually deter her from continuing to thrive in the music industry. After all, she was declared Billboard’s No. 4 Pop Star of 2021, and her album Planet Her is the longest running top 10 album on the Billboard 200 by a female rapper. She’s also scheduled to tour with The Weeknd on his After Hours Tour this summer.
