Today, singer Chlöe—one half of the sister duo, Chloe x Halle—dropped her second single titled “Treat Me”. This is following the success of her debut single “Have Mercy”, which is RIAA certified gold and has a music video with over 63 million views.
”Treat Me” is an fiery, upbeat song about how Chlöe needs the men competing for her love to come correct. She starts the song off with “You know you’d go broke tryna handle me.” and in the hook of the song, she sings “Treat me how I treat me.” She’s telling any potential love interest that no one can love her better than herself, but they should at least try. (I especially like how the verses are spoken and the hook is sung.)
The music video for the song was also released and is currently in Youtube‘s Top 20 Trending Videos. The visuals bring a whole other sensual side of the song out, as we see Chlöe embracing her body and her sexuality in different outfits and looks.
And of course, the vocals on the track are nothing less than what we expected of Chlöe. Even on her solo pop tracks, she still delivers. This is definitely seen in the last 22 seconds of the song, where she sings the chorus one last time acapella. The background vocals are beautifully blended and her tone is clear as she riffs and runs in falsetto.
Chlöe has previously mentioned in an interview with Billboard that her debut album is “definitely more pop”, as opposed to her previous work with her sister which has been categorized as R&B. She also stated, “I’m creating my own lane, as well as paying homage to the ones who have inspired me. It has been fun finding my voice.” I can’t wait to hear more from her as a solo artist as she continues to find her sound. Make sure to stay tuned and follow Chlöe on Instagram and Twitter @chloebailey.
