Up and coming singer-songwriter Mariah The Scientist released her sophomore album titled RY RY WORLD on July 9, 2021. The Atlanta native sings over futuristic beats that truly make listeners feel as if they took a rocket ride to her personal planet. The project starts off calm and collective, with “Impalas & Air Force 1s”. The first track on the album seems to represent the initial connection with a new love interest, and how she seems to be mesmerized by their first encounter.

As the album progresses, Mariah starts to get a bit more vulnerable with songs like “RIP” and “Brain” that allude towards the effect that love and heartbreak can have on one’s mental health. The songs sound beautiful with melodies you can’t seem to get out of your head and enchanting vocals that deflect from the fact that the actual content of the songs is very deep and in fact might need a trigger warning. This is something Mariah is gradually becoming well known for, as the same could be true for several songs on her debut album, Master. It’s a very interesting dichotomy that Mariah is able to pull off effortlessly, which is even shown on the album cover as we see her with a smile on her face & an arrow shot through her chest.

On the contrary, the project does include some songs that are light at heart, such as “Always and Forever” ft. Lil Baby, “Aura” and “Walked In” ft. Young Thug. Overall, the album is a masterpiece, and with every listen you’ll discover something new.

Mariah the Scientist is such an experimental artist who isn’t afraid to talk about her feelings and vulnerabilities, drop eerie songs like “Revenge”, or sing over stuttering loops like the sample in “2 You”. While this is only her second album, Mariah The Scientist is on her way to the top, with her unique interpretation of R&B.
